About Chapel 58

Chapel58 restoration was established over 16 years ago, named after our chapel conversion built in St Florence, in 1858! I am the co-owner of Chapel 58, Mel Sanders - an experienced Artist who created the Chapel 58 kitchen and furniture painting studio, in March 2013, taking furniture painting commissions full time. As time progressed I began to specialise in bespoke hand-painted kitchens.

We are happy to discuss other projects, in 2023 we have recently restored a dresser, re-purposed and hand painted a large wardrobe for a boot room. Take a look at our gallery for recent projects!

We can transform and update your kitchens with a full VIP makeover, we use high-quality specialist paints, offering you a choice of finish in Matt, Semi Matt, 10, 14% and 30, 40% sheen levels.

The brands we use are highly recommended in the trade and include beautiful National Trust Heritage colour charts of Little Greene Intelligent Eggshell  for a beautiful finish. We also use professional Tikkurila paint systems, offering durability for your busy hub of your home.

Our ethos & what we offer

For the past eight years, due to growing demand, I have specialised in painting kitchen cabinets, doors, and housing, offering a number of  bespoke and high quality services. I have gained trusted technique, I painted over 300 doors in 2021-22 ongoing, see examples in the Kitchen Gallery, within a wide variety of kitchens, classic, contemporary, and country styles, modernising outdated Oak, Pine, Cherry wooden, veneered and laminate, even MDF finishes. We have continued to be fully booked since 2019.

I offer a free picture estimate service and visit your home prior to booking a kitchen commission, with sample doors and colour charts, with over 100's of colours to choose from, I only use the highest quality materials. I can advise on all aspects of your kitchen makeover, using trusted craftspeople for new flooring, slate and granite worktops, as part of the service.

We feel passionate about our planet  and know that choosing to paint your kitchens saves waste from landfill. I promote recycling in the studio and love to share ideas on my social media pages to inspire others!  We were named as one of Pembrokeshire's "Eco Champions" in 2019 & look forward to continuing to improve our sustainability processes. In today's economy, giving new life to your existing kitchens can be a cost-effective way to transform your home.

I love working in a creative environment and often post pictures to Instagram of my studio and coastal life. I am inspired by Interior magazines, keeping up with trending design. I am also an oil painter when I get spare time!

My husband Steve Sanders is a trained restorer, quality craftsman, and Artist, specialising in Antique Globe restoration, who supports in the fixtures and fitting of every kitchen project.

We look forward to working with you on whatever scale of project you choose to take on with Chapel 58!
